Course Overview:

The National Diploma programme in Business Administration and Management is aimed at producing manpower with sound theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out a number of activities in a business concern effectively. The graduates should be able to:

  • Conduct a simple structured survey on any aspect of business and make appropriate recommendations to the authority.
  • Identify management problems at appropriate levels, analyze them and design management strategies to overcome them.
  • Interpret and assist in the execution of overall cooperative development policies.
  • Carryout inspection and auditing of books and records.
  • Carryout evaluation of investment assets for investment purposes and assists in the analysis of investment proposals.
  • Interpret basic statistical data.
  • Assist in the preparation of short and long term budget plans.
  • Write business reports and carryout various types of business communication effectively.
  • Apply principles of accounts to different types of accounting transactions.

The Higher National Diploma programme is designed to produce middle-level business and management personnel for the public and private enterprises who should understand the nature and purpose of business and should be able to contribute effectively to achievement of the underlying objectives by utilizing the human and material resources at any time within the organizations, and should be able to:

  • Conduct a structural survey on any aspect of business and make recommendations to appropriate authority when required to do so.
  • Identify management problems at appropriate levels, analyze them, and design management strategies to overcome them.
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and control effectively business activities at appropriate level and eventually appraise and recommend as appropriate.

Entry Requirements ND

To qualify for a place in the department of Business Administration and Management, for the National Diploma Program(ND) and applicant is expected to sit for and pass any of WASC, NABTEB and GCE ‘O’ Level or the Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) or their equivalent with five credits including English Language and Mathematics(Literature in English and Oral English are not acceptable in place of English Language) and two other subjects from economics, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Commerce, History, Statistics, Geography, Government, Agric Science/Biology. A credit pass in N.B.T.E. recognized pre National Diploma Examination.

Entry Requirements HND.

The entry requirements for the HND in Business Administration and Management are;

  • (a) A minimum of lower credit pass (CGPA of 2.50) in ND Business Studies or related programme and a minimum of one year post- ND Cognate work experience.
Further Education:

An ND graduate with CGPA of 2.50 and above can apply for direct entry to university for B.Sc in Business Management and other related business courses.

A HND holder with CGPA 2.50 and above can also apply for direct entry for B.Sc in Business Management and other Business related courses.

A HND holder with at least 3.00 CGPA is also qualified to apply for Post Graduate Diploma (P.GD) in management which will qualify the candidate to apply for MBA or M.Sc in management or other Business related courses.

Graduates of Business Administration and management can seek careers in some Business related areas such as Marketing (Business Development, Public Relation, Sales/ Marketing etc. finance (accounting, account management, investments etc).
