COURSE OVERVIEW:

Estate management is quite a broad term for a number of areas that include property management, surveying, business and finance and the built environment and essentially the subject is primarily concerned with the valuation and management of land and buildings in the public and private sector.

We realized that Nigeria is a developing country and therefore needs estate surveyors and valuers who will assist in managing, providing and carrying out improvements on buildings and infrastructure on the one hand, and in expanding urban property markets on the other hand. There also is a need to create an atmosphere for the development of the total man, via the vehicle of education and pioneering mental productivity to produce a new generation of leaders and solution providers. Through this approach, the Polytechnic has been able to raise leaders in the area of management, control and supervision of interests in landed property through education, training and research with total commitment to truthfulness, marketability and entrepreneurship.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS ND:

WAEC,GCE[O/L],SSCE,NECO,NABTEB or equivalent with Credits in English Language, Mathematics, one Basic Science subject and any two from the following: Geography, Economics/Commerce, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Technical Drawing.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS HND:

The entry requirements for the HND in Estate Management  are;

·         (a) A minimum of lower credit pass (CGPA of 2.50) in ND in Estate Management  or related programme and a minimum of one year post- ND Cognate work experience.

 

 

FURTHER EDUCATION:

An ND graduate with CGPA of 2.50 and above can apply for direct entry to university for B.Sc in Estate Management and other related Environmental courses.

A HND holder with CGPA 2.50 and above can also apply for direct entry for B.Sc in Estate Management and other Environmental related courses.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:

Graduates from courses in estate management may go on to careers in management within the estate and property industry, surveying or valuation practices, estate agencies, local and national government, retailers, financial institutions or general management. Estate management prepares you for work in the property sector, but also equips you with highly desirable and transferable commerce and business skills.
